Tech May Be a Wreck, But This Isn't 2001
Hi Alan, great work ,a lot of anticipation in your work and people with a vision like you usually succeed. It s no good to be too aggressive but not being aggressive enough coud be missed opportunities. What about YHOO
in anticipation of a takeover by MSFT? Do you think it could still happen? and if it does it should be at a nice premium isn t it? Many thanks for taking the time to answer to the questions of the small investors like me.

      Some Tech Sector Optimism
      Hello Larry,
great article as usual, a lot of why or why not buy every stock you mention.
What would you think of buying YHOO in anticipation of a MSFT takeover?
If it does happen it would be at a much higher price it is trading today, isn t it? and we would not have to wait too long for a nice gain. What are the chances of the takeover to happen? I know it could only be a guess but what I mean is why this deal would suddenly happen now? Thanking you in advance...

agree totally with Rightinsanfrancisco we need to have stock analysts completely separated from the brokerage companies .Right now they cannot be trusted and that leaves the small investors on its own in this jungle of greed.

A Buy & Hold Forever Dividend Stock Portfolio
makes a lot of sense to me.I own both ,stocks to buy and hold for the long term ( dividends higher than the average) and trading stocks to take advantage of the highs and the lows offered to us occasionally. Nothing wrong with those 2 styles of investing. To avoid the stories like GM why don t you use stop losses on all your buy and hold stocks? Also always keep in touch with the performance and news of your buy and hold. Buy and hold doesn t mean to ignore it completely forever, stay alert and be ready to make some changes if necessary.

Are These Seven Defensive Blue-Chips Finally a Good Buy?
I am 100% with you notsosmart and you don t deserve your name.Enjoy the rest of the day. Thank you Larry for taking the time to answer to my question and yes it s for the long term. I rarely buy thinking short term especially in this environment. I look for value and a nice dividend and I would have to add that there are so many of those stocks right now. But still I feel more comfortable with your help.Take care!

nice to read your articles Larry, I always enjoy it. Ken keep wasting your time if you have nothing else to do and please correct my spelling mistakes since my middle name is not Webster. Larry would DEO be one of the 5 you are close to pull the trigger on? I know you have mentioned that stock before and I bought it at a higher price and I am thinking of adding more in the low 50s to follow your advice. I also added your name on my watchlist, not to correct your spelling mistakes ,but to take advantage of your knowledge that you kindly share with us.Have a great day!

European Banks To Consider - Barron's
a lot people know exactly what s going on with this bank and that bank.I just can t stop laughing when I see all those comments, most of them ridiculous at best. Marketfolly, hedge funds are party animals, they live day to day ,they short today and next week they might be long on the exact same stocks. If you don t understand the mechanism of hedge fund just watch Cramer ,he was one of them. But the point of this article ,that you didn t understand, is to position yourself for the recovery. Maybe tomorrow ,maybe in a month, maybe in a year but it will happen,I sure hope you know that .

Silver Linings in the Panic Selling and Madness
CLH talks like my broker and history proves them right. Still, not because I am a contrarian, I will buy at or near 40$ 50 shares of FCX and will buy 50 mores if or when it goes down to 35$ ,anther 50 shares at 30$ etc...It doesn t pay to be arrogant and to fill a position at once, not in this type of market. If FCX doesn t go to 0 I should come ahead in 2 or 3 years from now,do you think it s going to 0? I don t think so and do not forget the nice yield that goes with it while waiting.

I love value, growth and income and you do not find stocks with those 3 characteristics too often. It seems to me those 4 stocks fit the bill and we own DEO and GE . I have been tempted to buy MMM and EMR lately but have resisted to the temptation until now(always thinking it s gone to go lower yet). The name GE in your article is going to attract a lot of bashers ,a lot of people love to hate this stock and they have tons of reasons but that didn t stop me from buying it.

well some of us borned cranky and will cranky. No matter what you do they ll never be happy.I don t mind the darts since I always do my homework and I like ideas. Don t live day to day ,instead get ready for the good days and there will be some, I am not suicidal yet. The only question mark for me is SYK , nice sector but moving 2 ways only, sideways or downways, why? I would like to buy some but after watching it for a year now I am not too impressed. Any thoughts to share with us on this one?

you make a lot of sense Jim and there is one remedy to go along with what you said: buy 50 shares now, if it goes down 10% buy another 50 shares etc... Never fill one position with one trade.

also I forgot to mention the yield of those stocks right now. It s like getting paid to wait to revisit their 52 weeks high.
