      A Gigantic Buy - Cramer's Stop Trading! (9/23/08)
      This is to the Editor of SA;
why do you still feature Cramer here? You only attract nonsense like above and compromise your otherwise high standard!

It seems that nobody, here or on other sites that I've checked, are speaking warmly FOR or agreeing with and thanking all the Moody's men for doing such a good job...

      Faith Doesn't Cut It - Cramer's Mad Money (8/29/08)
J C in the BS fiasco reminds me of a certain other fast-talker who "didn't inhale" or very thoughtfully explained "it depends on what you mean by..."
Since I don't watch JC anymore, I don't know if he apologized. ?
I also know there are many financial advisers and bloggers out here on the www. Would SA consider a survey or poll of them amongst us?

This is a long read..! But well worth it. For readers, check out "The Way of the World" by Ron Susskind. We are way off finance here....but then everything is ultimately connected.

That's quite a surprise! Why the huge increase in gas? Do you think the same would happen again IF we had similar storms [as might be building with Gustav and others]?

Wind's Our Future, but Natural Gas Is Now
I agree with New World Patriot and others - mostly on the need for energy independence. Just one of the issues: Sending $800 billion more or less, abroad to mostly hostile countries in exchange of oil, seems to be the worst possible "tax" I can imagine! More like bloodletting.
None of the alternatives to oil come without changing the paradigm.
It will cost tons of money, create US jobs, shift the economy, improve the environment and make the country stronger - priceless.
Thing is, we need a comprehensive plan (for better or worse a democratic plan - remember it is the best system we have, so far, no?). Otherwise it will be up to Big Boy individuals (Pickens, Gore et al) who will make the plans for us. Just like Morgan, Frick, Edison, Ford and others did ....

Now if Hard Asset could come up with a few actual suggestions in this wide world of wind, solar or grid hardware ( I assume she is a pro investor with analytic insights) ... now that would be helpful. Perhaps too hard work?

Financials: How - And When - We Reached the Bottom
One of the principal problems that lead to the financial crisis was, I believe, the lack of transparency. Will the financial institutions volunteer useful-to-investor transparency? ? ?
Just as with Clean Air, Acid Rain, Redlining, Civil Rights and all the way to Slavery - Laws, regulation, public insight and scrutiny is essential for a stable society for all of us.

Increases in Shorting, Only for Some
Bottom line - long term there is NO value-added benefit for the nation, the economy or the individual company in short selling. Eventually even for the shorty. Nothing is created, produced, invented or otherwise added to the marketplace. The negative impact is loss of confidence leading to the downward spiral we experience now (and have again and again in the past). But the temptation is obvious.
Transparency and openness is often short term pain but ultimate gain!
